Hello artists! Welcome back from spring break! In our last lesson, we learned about shading basic shapes to create a more 3D appearance. There are many things that help make our drawings appear more realistic. Shading is a really important one, and we will revisit it in depth. Another thing that can help make our drawings more realistic is creating texture. This week, you will create 10 different textures using pencil or pen. At least 5 of those textures should be organic, and 5 can be other types of textures. If you'll remember, organic means irregular or found in nature. Examples of organic textures would be hair, wood, grass, skin, scales, fur, feathers, etc. Other types of textures you may want to consider for your other 5 might be metal, glass, plastic, cloth, etc. Look around in your environment for ideas of different textures to create. You should grab a sheet of paper and divide it into 10 sections OR create 10 squares or circles (whatever shape) and create your textures there. Label each texture. Snap a picture of your work and UPLOAD TO SCHOOLOGY. You will submit all assignments through Schoology from now on.
To help you figure out how to create textures, I am attaching a couple of videos below. In addition to that, I am linking a great "Virtual Instructor" page that has some tips for you.
