Happy Monday Artists! Typically, our drawing unit ends with a self portrait. Because of our current situation, I am breaking down this unit into smaller, easier steps. We have worked on pencil shading basic shapes, and creating textures. This week we will combine those to create our first set of facial features... the eyes! Making faces can sometimes be intimidating all at once, so we will work individually on each facial feature, then facial proportions, then putting it all together.
Eyes are spheres, and the shading on the eyelid and eyeball reflect its round shape. Remember shading the basic shapes from a couple weeks ago? You can apply those methods to shading an eye. For this week's assignment, you will need a pencil, paper, and a straight edge. You can use a cotton swab or tissue to help with blending. There are two videos posted below. The first video shows how to create a basic eye with shading. The second shows how to put two eyes properly spaced next to each other. Follow the tutorials to create a set of eyes using pencil. Snap a picture and upload it to the Schoology assignment "drawing eyes."
